Club Rules
| 1. | All members are responsible for familiarizing themselves with civil Aviation Authority Laws applicable to model flying, BMFA rules and guidelines, as well as TMFC local rules including relevant no fly zones and flying boundaries. |
| 2. | All flying will be done in accordance with the BMFA safety recommendations, except, all flying should normally take place in front of the flight line, with pilots standing in a compact line, exceptions may be made by the appointed safety officer. |
| 3. | Members intending to fly must be in possession of an approved identity card. Such card must be equipped with a means of attaching it to the pegboard. |
| 4. | All TX’s (both plug in and synthesized) must carry an easily visible channel identification pennant recognised to BMFA standard. For 35MHz this means an orange flag, with a pennant approximately 3 inches by 2 inches , with a minimum height one inch black or white numerals. For 2,4GHz this means a black flag. Members using synthesized equipment must attach a TMFC approved sticker to their peg to alert others (an approved sticker is available free of charge from any member of the committee). Before a 35MHz TX (normal crystal or synthesized) is switched on the user must adhere to the following procedure:- a) Check the pegboard to ensure that the intended frequency is clear b) Attach a peg with your ID card attached to the correct frequency tab c) Ensure that the correct frequency is displayed on your transmitter and for synthesized transmitters Stage 1 switch on is correct d) Verbally announce the intention to switch on and the frequency e) Wait at least 5 seconds for any objections to be raised f) Then switch on observing other models closely for any signs of interference and be prepared to switch off immediately if any is detected. |
| 5. | Failure to use an ID card, or to display a current membership year sticker, renders that person liable to produce, on demand, to any club member, satisfactory proof of membership and insurance. Failure to produce said proof will result in refusal of permission to fly. Guest flyer's must produce proof of BMFA insurance which must be acceptable by the committee of TMFC, guests will be limited to 3 guest appearances in any 1 calendar year. (Ref page 9 para (g) BMFA Handbook). |
| 6. | Transmitters which are not in use will be placed beneath the peg board and have the members' ID card attached. (see 3 above). |
| 7. | Any member may demand proof that the frequency indicated by the pennant matches that being used. The Safety Officer will carry out spot checks from time to time. |
| 8. | A frequency may not be retained for more than 20 minutes when other persons are waiting to use that frequency. This includes time taken for engine adjustments etc. persons waiting to fly have priority to persons merely wanting to make adjustments. |
| 9. | The 'running in' of engine is not permitted either in the pits area or on the flying square. |
| 10. | Taxiing towards the pits is not permitted. For models which are difficult to carry it is permissible to do so from the pits to take off area, provided the model is adequately restrained. |
| 11. | In the interest of safety and of maintaining the "Club's License to operate", any club member has the right to raise his concerns directly with the owner of a model and if necessary with a member of the committee. Committee members (and Acting Safety Officer on the day), are also empowered to request a member to cease flying (or to cease flying a particular model) until further notice. In normal circumstances, this would be done except in serious cases involving dangerous flying or flying that places the "Club's License to operate", at risk. Committee members should explain the reason for such action in a polite and constructive manner and ideally in front of witnesses. Where a model is considered to generate excessive noise, or is flown too close to neighboring properties, the member should pay special attention to the likely impact on the neighboring community and the potential threat to the Club's continued use of the Site concerned. Any member requested to cease flying should do so immediately but has the right to lodge an appeal to the full Committee. In such cases, the Committee will consider the appeal at the earliest possible opportunity. |
| 12. | Failure to comply with any club rule shall, on proof of such failure being found by the committee, render the perpetrator liable to any of the following penalties:- a) Verbal warning. b) Written warning. c) Fine. d) Suspension from the club for a given time. e) Expulsion from the club. |
| 13. | Any person dealt with under the foregoing rules may appeal against such decision by requesting a personal hearing in front of the full committee. Such appeals must be delivered, in writing, to the secretary within 28 days of the finding of guilt. |
| 14. | No refunds of club fees will be made in respect of any period of suspension. Nor in respect of any membership time remaining following the expulsion. |
| 15. | The committee shall be empowered to inaugurate, or change, any rule affecting safety, without reference to the Annual General Meeting, or to a Special General Meeting. Members will be informed in writing of any such change. |
| 16. | Non-certificate holders are not permitted to fly unsupervised. |
| 17. | No flying at either site before 09:00 |
| 18. | The windsock provided must be erected before flying commences. |
| 19. | TMFC Members wishing to fly helicopters are encouraged to do so at the Castle Levington site. Helicopter pilots wishing to fly at Redmarshall must be in possession of a Helicopter A Certificate. No helicopter flying will be permitted at Redmarshall on training evenings (Currently Tuesdays. Both sites will operate a “common” pits area adjacent to the flying square for both fixed wing and helicopter models. Helicopter pilots wish to use a “solo slot” should seek agreement with any fixed wing flyer's that may be present to allot time on a pro-rata basis. In the event of any dispute, fixed wing flying will take precedence until the committee resolves this matter. |
| 20. | No more than six models to be flying at any one time. |
| 21. | Models must be adequately restrained whilst starting/adjusting engines. |
| 22. | The turning circle at Redmarshall may only be used for the loading and unloading of models and equipment. Vehicles must be moved immediately once unloaded. |
